We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Hygienist who will establish and maintain an appropriate occupational hygiene system which considers potential health hazards to which employees are exposed and also provide sufficient support and information to minimize health risk to employees.

Kumba Iron Ore

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects - exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.



As our Occupational Hygienist some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Ensure the work environment comply with all the relevant hygienic standards to minimise potential health risk to employees.
• Design and provide reports to management and use hierarchy of controls to minimise health risks to employees. Lose down any operations and activities which pose a health risk or threat to the workforce.
• Optimize human resources in a way that maximum output is delivered by the section as a whole.
• Ensure work ethics is of such a nature that workers continuously strive towards improving their own performance.
• Mange a safe and healthy work environment where workers and contractor can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.
• xe2x80xa2 Keep environmental impact within statutory requirements to ensure compliance to statutory requirements is met.

This role is in the SHEPS department on a band 6.10 level reporting to the Section Manager Hygiene & Fire Prevention

Qualifications

You will be required to have the following:

• B Tech Environmental & Health Sciences or Engineering related degree
• Holder of an Advanced Mine Environmental Certificate issued by the Mineral Council of South Africa OR Registration with SAIOH as an Occupational Hygienist and a holder of an Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control issued by the Minerals Council of South Africa
• Driver's License: Code B (Light Vehicle)
• 5 Years' operational experience in a Mining environment
• 2 Years' team leader experience within the Occupational Hygiene discipline
