Job Description

A limited duration contract position exists for an Occupational Health Nurse, reporting to the Clinic Manager. Position to become permanent should a suitable candidate be found.

Roles and Responsibilities:



Perform physical examination on patients as well as relevant testing (blood, urine, vaccinations.) as per client protocols or requests. Liaise with Senior ONP or Office Manager where additional examinations or tests are recommended. Ensure that proper approval is obtained for any additional examinations or tests by requesting such approval from the Client and that a quotation is sent first and approved by the customer in writing. Refer patients to a Clinic/ Doctor when required Ensure smooth processing of medicals Ensure electronic records at all times Peruse & evaluate screening tests results for accuracy. Complete and issue fitness certificates. Conduct audio, vision and lung function screenings when Occupational Technicians are not available to do so. Conduct blood and urine testing Do vitals Enquire on the past history of patients for insertion in patient file. Ensure that the necessary stock supplies are available to perform the tests and are ordered timeously. Ensure that the examination room is cleaned on a daily basis. When required, act as liaison with laboratory, doctors, clients & stakeholders. Spend time with the OMP when abnormalities are found. Study the sister/ doctor's notes on audited files. Do HCT when indicated. Conduct ECG's if requested. Do multi-drug testing. Random Glucose finger prick test to be done according to the company protocol OR when there is glucosuria in the patient's urine. Assist with the completion and checking of files. Assist with primary health care evaluations and or chronic evaluations Assist with a medical emergency IOD management Ensure strict adherence to infectious disease control Ensure medical waste collection and delivery of new stock. Ensure privacy and protection to personal information

Administration



Maintain all relevant employee health records electronically and carry out all administration in line with the Occupational Health function. Use Occupational Health & Safety Electronic program.

Provide a world class and cost-effective Occupational Health Service throughout South Africa. Ensure that the Occupational Health Services conform to legal requirements. Maintain the highest possible standard within the Occupational Health Service Industry

Qualifications:



Nursing Diploma/ Degree Diploma/ Degree in Occupational Health Nursing Current registration with SA nursing council (SANC) Audiometry, Spirometry and Vision Certificate Dispensing license Vaccination certificate Valid drivers license Current registration SASOHN Travel Medicine and registration with SASTM (Advantageous)
