Requirements
BTech in Occupational Health Nursing
Four (4) to five (5) years' relevant experience in occupational
health including experience doing audiometry, spirometry,
vision testing and conducting medicals
Certification in Occupational Health disciplines for
Audiometry and Spirometry
Strong knowledge of occupational health legislation and
compliance requirements
Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
(Valid OH qualification must appear on SANC receipt)
SASOHN registration as an Audiometrist
Computer literacy
Valid Code B driver's licence (advantageous) and reliable
transport.
Key Performance Areas
Perform medical surveillance and examinations to identify
occupational health-related diseases within the City of
Cape Town to ensure compliance with relevant OHS
policies and related legislation
Coordinate and perform risk-based pre-employment medical
evaluations according to the employee job descriptions,
job performance requirements and relevant legislation
to determine employee suitability
Perform specialised tests including vision testing, audiometry,
spirometry and biological monitoring, in line with inherent
job requirements of employees
Coordinate, implement and maintain an audiometry
programme as part of the hearing conservation programme
Maintain accurate and confidential health records and
information
Coordinate ill-health incapacity case management in
compliance with relevant legislation and policies
Conduct onsite health risk assessments to establish an
exposure profile and ensure adequate medical surveillance
in compliance with the terms of relevant legislation
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to promote
and provide occupational health services
