Work Description

The NIMDR-TB coordinator is responsible for on-site and hands on mentorship of TB focal nurses, assist with refresher courses and updating nurses on changes in the DR-TB program. Inclusive support in the Clinical Governance that includes assisting with conducting clinical assessments/folder reviews, TB program gaps analysis, assisting with remedial action plans and quality assurance activities at all levels of care.

They will also contribute to monitoring and evaluation of patients that were initiated on DR-TB treatment both clinically and on EDR.web, monitor ADRxe2x80x99s being reported and recorded, monitor treatment outcomes of patients initiated by NIMDR-TB nurses.

Technical Work Responsibilities

  • Generate innovative ideas for Mentees, Mentors and Facilities to improve DR-TB program management.
  • Validating EDR.web data at a Sub-district and district level

  • Ensure the management of DR-TB patients efficiently according to DoH guidelines
Duties:
  • Continuous communication with IA and District and Area Managers
  • Continuous communication with DOH Management where necessary
  • Assisting at Cluster Meetings
  • Attending DoH Meetings relevant to TB QI
  • Assist in improving the TB program needs at facility level.
  • Follow up on outcomes to ensure all patients in TB room are managed and reported.
  • Follow up on all ADRxe2x80x99s
  • Site visit scheduling, coordination, and oversight
  • Assisting QIA at Learning Sessions
  • Collecting EDR.web Data at a Sub-District level (even if it means driving there)
  • Developing new change ideas at a Facility level
  • Documenting QI success stories
  • Provide all facilities have up to date DR-TB guidance.
  • Coming up with new innovative ideas that can be shared with Mentors and Facilities to improve the DR-TB programme.
  • Ensure that all details of DR-TB management of clients are accurately recorded in the clientxe2x80x99s folder, DR-TB register and EDR.web.
  • Assist the facility clinicians with training and mentoring nurses newly trained or in process of being trained on NIMDR-TB during their practical sessions
  • Assist in remedial action for identified gaps in the DR-TB programme.
  • Developing DR-TB knowledge and capacity among Aurum Mentors and Area Managers
  • Continual self-development and keeping up to date with latest developments in the field
  • Conducting ongoing feed-back sessions with Mentors and Managers
  • Update the nurses in the event of any changes within the DR-TB programme
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures according to prescribed procedures and legislation.
  • Report all unsafe activities to Senior Management/Human Resources
  • Adhere and maintain decision making authority as allocated to the position

  • SELECTION CRITERIA
Education
  • Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP) degree (clinical associate)
  • Professional Nurse with a minimal or equivalent qualification of NQF 7 in Primary health care with a dispensing license
Experience
  • The NIMDR-TB coordinator should have prior/current experience, not less than three years, in the treatment and management of DR-TB
  • Be updated with the current DR-TB clinical practises as per the 2019 DR-TB clinical reference guidelines
  • Minimum of 3 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in DR-TB programme management
  • Experience and knowledge of DR-TB management: programmatic and drugs, adverse events, and the management thereof
  • Good understanding of the M&E system
Requirements
  • Proficient personal computer skills
  • Current registration with HPCSA or SANC
  • SA Citizen or valid work permit to work in South Africa
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Be able to use initiative in interpreting data.
  • Driverxe2x80x99s license
  • Own car
  • Minimal/Moderate/Excessive overnight travel (up to 30%) by land or air if required
  • Willing to work overtime.
  • Willing to travel.
Advantageous
  • Qualification in NIMDR
  • Experience on working on TB data systems used in public health care sector eg., TIER.net, EDR.web
Qualification in quality improvement
