A dynamic and innovative food manufacturing company is looking for an experienced ND Technologist with a strong background in spice-based product development to join their team in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The ideal candidate will play a key role in creating and refining batch packs for meat products such as sausages, boerewors, and polonies, while ensuring full compliance with food labeling regulations and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize spice blends and batch packs for processed meat products
Conduct sensory evaluations to assess and ensure product quality and consistency
Compile accurate ingredient listings and nutritional panels
Draft detailed product specifications for all new developments
Investigate and resolve customer complaints in collaboration with quality teams
Perform product costing in alignment with current labeling legislation and industry standards
Support cross-functional teams with technical input during new product launches
Stay updated on food industry trends, ingredients, and regulatory changes
Requirements:
National Diploma or B.Tech in Food Technology
Proven experience in product development, particularly in spice and batch pack formulations
Solid understanding of food labeling legislation and cost management
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively across departments
