Job Description

Purpose of the Job




The National Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through both sales operations and strategic business development initiatives. This role combines leadership of the Sales Team with proactive identification of new market opportunities, partnerships, and innovative solutions to expand the company's footprint beyond existing client bases. The National Sales Manager ensures the achievement of sales targets, fosters strong customer relationships, and develops strategies to penetrate new markets and industries.




Job Objectives



1. Strategic Business Development




Identify and pursue new business opportunities across multiple sectors (not limited to pharmaceutical).

Develop and implement strategies for market expansion, partnerships, and revenue diversification.

Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities.

Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in target industries.

2. Sales Leadership & Team Development




Lead, coach, and mentor the sales team to achieve and exceed targets.

Drive a high-performance culture through training, goal setting, and performance management.

Align team objectives with overall business development strategies.

3. Customer Relationship Management




Strengthen relationships with existing clients while expanding into new markets.

Act as an escalation point for complex customer issues, ensuring resolution and satisfaction.

4. Sales Operations & Reporting




Oversee daily sales operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance.

Analyze sales data to identify growth opportunities and inform strategic decisions.

Report on sales performance, pipeline development, and business development progress.

5. Compliance & Industry Knowledge




Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices in sales and business development.

Qualifications

Minimum degree / diploma (NQF 6); Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.

Experience



Experience




5+ years in sales and/or business development roles, with proven success in driving growth.

Experience in leading teams and managing key accounts.

Exposure to multiple industries (pharma experience advantageous but not mandatory).

Knowledge and Skills

Sales and business development strategies across multiple industries.

Market analysis, competitive intelligence, and partnership development.

Skills




Strong negotiation, networking, and relationship-building skills.

Strategic thinking with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.
