Our client requires the services of a Software Engineer (Advanced) Midrand/Menlyn/Rosslyn/Home Office rotation

EXPERIENCE: 4-6 Years related working experience.

COMMENCEMENT: As soon as possible.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• Fluent English-speaking, including Business reading and writing
• Information Technology Qualification
• Min. ~ 5 years working experience with IT Monitoring Systems like Nagios and ICINGA

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Technical/functional:
• Experience in IT Monitoring solutions
• Deep knowledge of Nagios or similar technologies as a monitoring tool
• In-depth working knowledge of IT Infrastructure and Platforms - Operating systems like Linux and Windows, Networks, Platforms like Databases, Web technologies, and Cloud technology (AWS, Azure, Google)
• Experience in Shell, Perl, Python and a higher programming language e.g. Java
• Ability to conceptualise complex information, but also delve into the details when required
• Experience with ITIL
• Experience with the Agile Methodology

ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS

• Understanding of GROUP Processes and tools
• Excellent Communication skills
• Ability to relate to a variety of Stakeholders at different organisational levels
• Strong interpersonal skills, including Intercultural understanding
• Able to work under pressure and be resilient in stressful situations
• Must be self-motivated and open to learn independently
• Proactive and be able to provide new ideas for improvement of processes
• Flexibility to take up different tasks in the team and be a team player

ROLE:

• Continuous enhancement of GROUP Nagios master solution (based on open-source solution OMD and GROUP Nagios generator for application monitoring and web performance monitoring
• 2nd and 3rd Level Support for GROUP Nagios master solution and GROUP Nagios AppMon solution
• Collecting of requirements related to new monitoring functions of GROUP IT departments
• Creating and refinement of user stories about GROUP Nagios master solution, GROUP Nagios AppMon and GROUP Nagios AppMon/WebPerformance generator
• Developing of new monitoring plugins and enhancements defined in user stories, together with our providers
• Building, compiling, and testing of Nagios OMD to cater for new changes
• Consulting of GROUP Nagios master solution user for e.g., Web operations
• Consulting and supporting of our GROUP Nagios AppMon customer regarding possible usage of GROUP standard monitors
• Responsible for all required documentation including Operations manual, security, test concept etc.
• Testing
