Job Description



The NACE Coating Inspector will be responsible for surface preparations, visual inspections, quality assurance, reporting and recording atmospheric conditions prior to start of painting operations.

Responsibilities:



1. Check surface preparation.

2. Check and record atmospheric conditions prior to starting of painting operations.

3. Verifying the correct colour - coding and painting.

4. Perform visual inspection.

5. Provide assurance of the quality of the paint application.

6. Notify the consultant and owner of any anomalies or irregularities in the speci?cations.

7. Surface acceptance and substrate testing for painting.

8. Review all areas in scope of work with applicator prior to prep and paint application.

9. Provide unbiased reports.

10. Verify that all surfaces are in suitable conditions for painting.

11. Report all surface defects at the prep stage, intermediate coat and ?nal ?nish.

12. Designate a mock - up area for each step in the painting process.

Requirements:



1. Valid Rope Access Level 1/2 Certificate.

2. NACE Coatings Inspector Level 1/2 Certificate (Non-negotiable)

3. Valid BST GWO Certificate inclusive of Lift User training certificate.

4. Valid Medical Certificate (With Annexure 3)

5. Legal Liability Training

6. Valid driver's license

7. HIRA Training

Do you have experience checking and recording atmospheric conditions such as temperature, humidity, and dew point before starting painting operations? Do you have experience verifying correct colour-coding and paint application in accordance with project specifications or standards? Have you carried out visual inspections to detect surface defects, damage, or non-conformities?
Can you confirm that all paint applications meet the required quality, thickness, and finish standards?

Do you have experience identifying and notifying the consultant and owner of any discrepancies or irregularities in the project specifications? Have you conducted inspections to ensure surfaces meet acceptance criteria and substrates are suitable for coating? Do you have experience reviewing all areas within the scope of work with the applicator before surface preparation and paint application begins? Can you produce reports that are neutral, fact-based, and free from personal opinion or external influence? Do you have experience verifying that all surfaces meet the required conditions prior to painting? Do you have experience identifying and reporting surface defects during surface preparation, intermediate coating, and final finish stages? Have you been responsible for setting up mock-up zones to demonstrate each step of the painting procedure? Do you currently hold a valid NACE Coatings Inspector Level 1 or 2 certification? (This is a mandatory requirement for the role.)
