PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To collect and record quality drilling and geological data to support the mining teams with timeous input of geological information into daily production and short-term planning.

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

• Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Manage SHEQ compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox.
• Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status.

CUSTOMERS

• Ensure Customer Satisfaction
• Liaise with neighbouring mining operations and customers to increase and improve on current company mineral and property assets.
• Maintain and improve relationships with key stakeholders (local communities)

BUSINESS PROCESSES

Administration

• Conduct Mineral Resources general financial controls and inputs.
• Conduct Mineral Resources general administration and process Mineral Resources invoices (Coupa input)
• Maintain stationery and office supply stock levels.

Geological Data

• Collect, process and interpret geological and sampling data.
• Update geological data on development, stope, mine maps and sections.
• Communicate geological data and recommendations to mine personnel.

Surface Exploration

• Log core from cover and exploration drilling
• Coordinate the exploration drilling programmes and sampling programmes.
• Ensure good core yard housekeeping.

Geological database

• Populate drilling and mapping information onto Geological databases.
• Ensure data integrity and good QA/QC practices are maintained.

Reports

• Write monthly and Ad hoc geological reports to Chief Geologist

• Microsoft Programs
• Samancor Chrome Systems (IMS, Chromedoc, Coupa, MES, LMS, SAP)
• Operating CAD computer systems
• Read surface mining and geological plans.

Knowledge

• Demonstrate elementary knowledge and understanding of the Bushveld Complex geology.
• Comprehensive evaluation of surface/ underground mining plans
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of ISO 9001
• Basic understanding of geological software programs

Minimum qualifications

• BSc Hons (Geology) Degree or Technikon Diploma
