Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Mid-Level Content Manager to join our Strategy & Partnerships team. This role is at the heart of Pele's storytelling - crafting, curating, and managing high-quality content that be part of brand growth, drive stakeholder engagement, and supports strategic business objectives.


The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of content strategy, exceptional writing and editing skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to produce materials that are on-message, on-brand, and impactful.

Requirements



Content Strategy & Planning



Develop and manage an annual content calendar that aligns with Pele's strategic priorities, campaign timelines, and event milestones. Work closely with the Strategy & Partnerships Manager to ensure content supports brand positioning, corporate messaging pillars, and strategic touchpoints. Identify opportunities to repurpose content across multiple platforms for maximum reach and engagement.

Content Creation & Editing



Research, write, edit, and proofread content for multiple channels - including websites, LinkedIn, press releases, newsletters, thought leadership pieces, internal communications, and event collateral, guided by the Strategies and Partnerships Manager. Work with the Graphic Designer and Brand Custodian to ensure written content is supported by compelling visuals. Ensure all content meets brand tone, style, and quality standards.

Content Management



Maintain and update the company's content library, ensuring all assets are current and accessible. Manage content workflows from brief to delivery, ensuring deadlines are met and approvals are obtained. Oversee publishing across digital platforms, optimising for SEO and user engagement.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement



Partner with internal teams to capture stories, achievements, and project milestones. Liaise with external PR agencies, media partners, and freelancers as needed. Support the execution of corporate events and campaigns with tailored content.

Performance & Optimisation



Monitor content performance using analytics tools, providing insights and recommendations for improvement. Track engagement metrics and prepare monthly content performance reports for the Strategy & Partnerships Manager and HOD.

Desired Skills and Qualifications



Essential:



Degree or diploma in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field. 3-5 years' experience in a content management or editorial role (in-house or agency). Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a portfolio of published work. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Familiarity with SEO principles, social media best practices, and digital publishing platforms (e.g., WordPress, LinkedIn, Mailchimp). Ability to work within brand guidelines while bringing creative flair to content.

Advantageous:



Experience in corporate, renewable energy, or sustainability sectors. Knowledge of South African media landscape and PR practices. Experience with analytics tools (Google Analytics, LinkedIn Insights). Basic multimedia skills (photography, video editing, or Canva).
