Job Description


Maintain running equipment, ensuring minimum disruption to process and production procedures by performing routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently and the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate.

Duties

Machine, Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance

  • Carry out preventative maintenance according to the maintenance plan and attend to break downs on all machines, equipment, vehicles, etc.
  • Perform improvements on machines and equipment when necessary.
  • Ensure correct lubricants are used for a specified machine/product as advised by the machine/product specifications.
  • Ensure proper care and use of workshop machines, tools and equipment.
  • Order and collect spares and other maintenance requirements in conjunction with Maintenance Manager and Bottling Production Manager.
  • Fabricate minor spares / process requirements using a lathe, drill press, welding and any other equipment as required.
  • Respond to call outs and attend to breakdowns when required.
  • Maintain registers according to the OHAS Act statutory requirements for power tools, ladders, pressure vessels and lifting devices.
  • Liaise with service companies on plant service issues, air compressors, hoists and fork lift trucks.
  • Complete all break down and preventative maintenance records according to QMS procedures.
Buildings & Grounds Maintenance
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and repair work on buildings when required.
  • Attend to breakdowns and liaise with departmental managers to limit disruption to processes.
  • Carry out basic plumbing and electrical repairs as required in plant.
Quality Management Systems
  • Adhere to QMS standards and procedures.
  • Follow QMS protocol as described by QMS procedures.
  • Ensure that the security of the premises is intact for responsible areas.
  • Adhere to the set GMP protocol and participates in various quality seminars.
Health, Safety and Housekeeping
  • Control CCPs including Sanitation Testing of machines and equipment worked on during maintenance.
  • Carry out sanitation of workshop and parts store.
  • Participate in annual HACCP training and in H&S committee meetings when required.
  • Adhere to protective clothing policy.
  • Ensure compliance with company and statutory H&S policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the safety representative to ensure adherence to safe work practices.
  • Contribute to the companys safety awareness by monitoring contractors whilst on site and report any deviations to the safety representative or maintenance/production manager.
  • Ensure housekeeping is kept in order and meets required standards and all areas of responsibility are clean and neat.
Requirements
  • 5-year post Trade tested Mechanical fitter experience
  • Must have a valid Drivers licence
Skills and Competencies
  • Maintenance skills and some Plumbing experience
  • Basic knowledge of HACCP systems
  • Basic knowledge of pre-requisite program ISOPE01
  • In depth knowledge of HACCP Plan for glass & BIB filling
  • Must have 5-year post trade experience
  • Must have some basic computer skills
  • Must be able to work on your own
  • Basic Electrical experience
  • Food industry background
