About the role
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of innovative prosthetic and
orthotic devices that meet the needs of our clients. This role requires a combination of engineering expertise, creativity,
and a passion for improving the lives of individuals with mobility challenges.Responsibilities:

• Develop mechanical designs for prosthetic and orthotic devices using CAD software.
• Create prototypes and perform testing to assess functionality, durability, and comfort.
• Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure designs meet user requirements and feedback.
• Select suitable materials for manufacturing prosthetic and orthotic devices, considering weight, strength, and comfort.
• Conduct stress analysis and simulations to ensure device reliability.
• Manage projects from concept to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are adhered to.
• Document the development process and maintain detailed technical records.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including clinicians, rehabilitation specialists, and manufacturing staff.
• Present design concepts and prototypes to stakeholders for feedback and approval.
• Ensure all products meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct routine quality checks and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications:

• South African unemployed YOUTH aged between 18 and 34
• Must not have taken part on the YES Programme before
• Educational Background: National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in CAD software for designing mechanical components. Familiarity with simulation

software for performance analysis. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials used in prosthetics and orthotics. * Experience: 1-2 Yearsxe2x80x99 experience. Previous experience in mechanical design, preferably in the medical deviceor rehabilitation industry. Experience with 3D printing technologies is an advantage. * Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonalskills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients. Ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to
