MECHANICAL DESIGN HEAD

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Head to lead our mechanical design function, drive technical excellence, and align engineering delivery with business and project objectives.

This role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on engineering leader who thrives in multidisciplinary environments, enjoys mentoring teams, and is passionate about quality, efficiency, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee mechanical design for water and wastewater treatment projects.

Review, approve, and ensure accuracy of drawings, specifications, and technical calculations.

Ensure designs are cost-effective, energy-efficient, sustainable, and fit for purpose.

Provide technical leadership across project phases, from planning and procurement through construction and commissioning.

Coordinate resources and align multidisciplinary teams to meet project timelines and deliverables.

Ensure all engineering work complies with quality, health & safety, and environmental standards.

Collaborate closely with Production and Manufacturing to ensure designs are practical and buildable.

Lead, coach, and manage the mechanical design team, providing guidance on complex design challenges.

Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and best-practice design standards to reduce risk and improve outcomes.

Manage assigned projects, including cost, schedule, quality, subcontractors, and overall delivery performance

Requirements / Minimum Qualifications

A Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Professional registration advantageous)

Proven experience in mechanical design leadership, preferably in water or wastewater treatment

Strong technical background in piping systems, pump stations, and mechanical plant design

Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams

Solid project management capability, including cost and schedule control

Strong working knowledge of EHS, quality systems, and compliance standards

Proficiency in relevant design and project tools (CAD platforms and Microsoft Project)

Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
