Job Description
The Role:
As a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in both the design and execution phases of bespoke engineering solutions, with a focus on:
Primary Responsibilities (70%):
- In-house mechanical design and development
- Strength calculations (first principles and FEA/Simulation)
- 3D CAD modelling and detailed drawing using SolidWorks
- Compilation of manufacturing data packs including:
- BOMs, QCPs, Work Instructions, and Technical Manuals
- Supplier & vendor management during fabrication
- Project management across service, manufacturing, design, and product lifecycles
- Involvement in:
- Quotation, procurement, and logistics
- Planning and scheduling
- Quality control, inspections, and reporting
- Data book creation and final closeout documentation
- A Mechanical Engineering degree (BEng/BSc) from UCT, Stellenbosch, or UWC
- 36 years experience in a relevant engineering environment
- Deep interest in mechanical design and technical problem-solving
- Experience in heavy engineering sectors or heavy manufacturing
- Competency in SolidWorks, FEA tools, and manufacturing processes
- Strong documentation and communication skills
