Job Summary

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for innovation and a knack for designing cutting-edge machinery in the Automation industry? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a dynamic Mechatronic Innovation company in Randburg. We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with a 4+ year track record in mechanical design, holding a 4-year Mechanical Engineering Degree.

Responsibilities:

• Design Excellence: Conceptualize and design purpose-built machinery, industrial equipment, robotic welding and assembly cells, body-in-white jigs, conveyance systems, and lifting equipment.
• Engineering Analysis: Analyze the mechanical functionality of systems, including Finite Element Analysis.
• Control Systems: Specify electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control systems.
• CAD Proficiency: Develop manufacturing drawings using Solidworks in compliance with company standards.
• Collaboration: Interface with Customers, Vendors, Production Managers, and Procurement to find optimal solutions.
• Technical Prowess: Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Problem Resolution: Collaborate with Automation engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
• Standards Adherence: Ensure detailed designs meet applicable ISO, SABS, and Customer Standards.
• Component Specification: Specify system components or direct modifications of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
• Project Leadership: Lead smaller projects and conduct complex designs that require research and attention to detail.
• Mentorship: Mentor Junior Engineers to foster their growth.
• Ownership: Take initiative and responsibility for projects and designs.

Skills and Competencies:

• Proficient in 3D CAD modeling, specifically Solidworks.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
• Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and software is advantageous.
• Self-motivated and highly organized.
• Background in automated engineered systems is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (4-year program).
• Solidworks experience is required.

Minimum Experience:

• A minimum of 4 years' experience in the mechanical design field, specifically within the Automation industry.
