Job Description

Job Summary The Mechanical Design Draftsman will be required to translate and develop designs from the engineers and produce technical drawings for projects. Will work closely with engineers and other draftsmen to create and develop 3D models and drawings for manufacture for a wide variety of specialised custom vehicle build projects. RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate directly with engineers to understand project requirements, verify design details, and recommend modifications as needed according to company standards and best practices. Develop detailed 3D CAD models using computer CAD hardware and software. Develop 2D drawings from 3D models through common drafting standards. Update and revise/resolve 3D models and 2D drawings on changes needed by Engineers and Designers. Review and analyse specifications. Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery. Compute dimensions of materials and purchase accordingly. Complete drawing project groups by documenting and organizing. Create manufacturing drawings from 3D models. Manage drawing system integrity in the product data management system. Manage drawing files and drawing and quality standards. Check drafts and ensure accuracy and completeness. Consult technical handbooks and tables while in the drafting phase. Use Computer-Aided Design and Drafting systems to prepare drawings. Prepare engineering drawings that detail plans and specifications. REQUIREMENTS Grade 12 or equivalent Certification / Qualification in Mechanical Drafting Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault Microsoft Office (Advanced) 3+ years' experience in design engineering role or related experience Autodesk Inventor experience a must Autodesk Vault experience a must
