Job Description

The main responsibility of this role is HVAC and refrigeration in addition the incumbent will perform repairs, maintenance and
installation of mechanical machinery and equipment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manufacturing of simple parts as required from time-to-time, with the equipment available, within safe limits and

conditions.

• Monitoring and quality control of all contractor work carried out on hospital equipment for refrigeration, air-

conditioning, vacuum, medical gas, autoclave, boiler, hot and cold water systems.

• Reporting on the condition and functionality of the plant and machinery.
• Maintaining of full and accurate records for all maintenance work and services undertaken on plant and equipment

under this position's control.

• To perform a stand-by function in accordance to Policy.
• Repairs, maintenance and supervision of all refrigeration, air conditioning, vacuum, medical gas, compressor, autoclave,

boiler, hot and cold water systems.

• Perform maintenance tasks as stipulated in xe2x80x9cEquipment Type Skills Assessment TGL v1.1xe2x80x9d
• Maintenance of all plant rooms.
• Inspection and fault localization of broken down machinery, according to instruction manual(s) and technical knowledge.
• Scheduled and emergency start-up of plant and machinery in accordance with the operating procedures, when required.
• Routine maintenance on plant and machinery, as stipulated by servicing schedules of the equipment, and/or as

requested by the Supervisor/Manager.

• Preventative maintenance planning and implementation, according to Company Policies and Procedures, as determined

from time-to-time.

• Occupational Health and Safety Act's regulations relating to machinery.
• Knowledge of the R158 building regulations, specifically with regards to hospitals, theatres and industrial kitchens.
• Assume responsibility for own personal and professional development
• Keep up to date with Aloecrest's evolving policies and procedures
• Ensure professional technical conduct at all times.
• Good general knowledge and understanding of legislation pertaining to the specific business environment

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Grade 12 / Matric
• National Diploma - Preferred
• Trade Test in Mechanical or Air conditioning and Refrigeration - Essential
• NQF Level 3 Engineering Qualification or higher
• Three year post qualification experience in a mechanical environment, including but not limited to air-conditioning,

welding, fitting and turning and boilers/geysers or;

• Experience in HVAC and refrigeration is advantageous
• Computer literate - MS Office (Word and Excel)
