Job Description

Co-ordinates, monitors and undertakes specific sequences/activities associated with the
implementation of testing procedures, evaluates outcomes/ results, addresses non-conformity and/
or deviations from specifications and guides laboratory personnel on specific testing applications
and procedures
Key Responsibility Areas
Checking and calibrating testing equipment using customized software programmes and test
methods to verify compliance with national standards (SABS test Methods, Technical
Method for Highways (TMH) Series, etc.)
Co-ordinating and performing/ executing specific quality control procedures to assess
compliance with technical specifications with regards to Asphalt production
Interpreting test results against project specifications with a view to identifying deviations/
nonconformance
Providing recommendations based on test results on the acceptance/ rejection of material,
layer and or blends tested
Analysing materials purchased on annual supply contracts to validate conformity with
standards
Extracting analytical summary reports and other related information and forwards to
relevant personnel
Identifying the need for training and/or conducting training on the implementation of test
standards to new personnel/ students
Monitoring and controlling the productivity and performance of Laboratory personnel

Essential Requirements
Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent with Mathematics and Science and a certificate in
Construction Materials Testing or any other related and equivalent certificate
Valid motor vehicle driving license
3 Years relevant experience
