Mast and Rigging Group Leader - Cape TownMast & RiggerTurningHealth & SafetyJOB SUMMARYReporting to the Mast and Rigging Manager, the Mast and Rigging Group Leader will be responsible for the planning, co-ordinating, installation of masts according to a schedule and timeline provided by the organisation.Ensuring that the installation is done according to company standards and quality checked before signing off on the installation of the mast.ABOUT OUR CLIENTOur client is a leading and respected player in vessel construction and they are looking to recruit a Mast and Rigging Group LeaderTHE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTIn order to be shortlisted for this role, you have the following skills and experience, but not limited to:-Minimum Qualification: NQF Level 4 qualification (Matric).Ideal Qualifications: Turning and or Mechanics Trade Certificate.Experience: At least 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in Mast and Rigger or related field.Basic knowledge in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).JOB DESCRIPTIONThe role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:-Preparation for mast installationCheck manufacturing file.Ensure that relevant stock is available.Request masts from stores along with rope packs and parts.Place an order with stores if stock is not available.Ensure that all components are available for the building of the mast.Delegate to staff members who is responsible for which component of the installationEnsure mast stepping is communicated with RCYC day before launch as some vessels launch at MPT.Building of MastJoining the mast.Building the mast.Fitting pulling and connecting electrics.Loading the boom and furler.Ensuring build checklist for mast build is completed and filed.Commissioning of MastStepping of mast, weather conditions to be observed for the safety of the staff prior to stepping or un-stepping.Checklist of stepping completion to be completed.Rig tensions as specified in comms file to be written in before leaving the vessel.Wait for boat to launch before mast hoisting can begin.Prepare the boat for fitting and riggingPeople ManagementBuild and maintain an effective team.Ensuring that the operating objectives and standards of performance are not only understood but ownedby the team members.Monitoring the actions and performance of all team members.Competencies:Have in-depth knowledge of building and installation of masts. principles, practices and procedures.Must have the ability to act professional at all times and be a trusted business advisor.The ability to compile and complete reports as requested.Please be advised that only shortlisted candidates that have the specific skills and experiences required to fulfill the responsibilities of the role will be contacted for an interview by one of our consultants.
