Are you experienced in understanding consumer behaviour, providing insights to drive business decisions?
Our client in Cape Town is seeking a curious, detailed empathetic Marketing individual with a qualification in Communications or Social Sciences, to engage directly with consumers to collate information for our clients' marketing strategies, product development, and overall business decisions.
REQUIREMENTS

• Matric, or relevant qualification
• Qualification or degree in Psychology, Sociology, Communications, or a related field
• Background in social science, social work, journalism or anthropology preferred
• Valid SA driver's license and own vehicle, willing to travel to interviews
• Available to work office hours, Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30
• Computer literate in MS Office
• Experience or exposure to research, interviewing or community work
• Skilled at interviewing, listening and observing in nuanced, sensitive ways
• Comfortable working and engaging in diverse environments, cultures and communities
• Good writing, synthesis and reflection skills
• Strong communication and listening skills, able to handle sensitive situations with care
• Deeply curious and interested in people and their worlds
• Thorough, patient and methodical, able to follow a thread until it makes sense
• Able to improvise and find practical solutions on the go
• Combine logic with emotional intelligence
• Curious explorer, always seeking to understand, not just to confirm

DUTIES

• Plan, prepare and manage field research schedule and conduct interviews with customers
• Record conversations and take down detailed notes about conversations and observations
• Writing clear and logical discussion guides
• Observe patterns (thematic saturation), test and stretch ideas
• Bring creative energy and conceptual thinking to projects, helping translate complex findings into meaningful narratives
• Work collaboratively with the full team to ensure the client brief and the project have creative stretch
• Share updates and new insights with the team
• Communicate possible delays or challenges to the Field Lead
• Support the topline summary from the field, synthesising early findings and themes into a clear, concise write-up after the first two days in field, then refining and updating it daily
• Break down complex information into digestible, relatable insights with the team into key insights that clients can easily grasp
• Brief and handover findings and interview recordings to Editor and Report Writer for further editing
• Ensure that data is uploaded timeously to the right place
• Work with Admin-team to ensure respondents and recruiters are paid on time
• Manage field kit and required documents, stimulus, etc.
• Work closely with the Report Writer to ensure the story stays true to the field
