Job Description

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have a B. Sc. Agric or similar tertiary qualification in Plant Production, Crop Protection, or Horticulture
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a technical/marketing role within the crop protection sector
  • Must have BASOS and/or AVCASA certification (or willing to obtain within 12 months)
  • Deep knowledge of fruit crops, with emphasis on pome and stone fruit
  • Proven track record in crop protection product development, marketing, or technical support
  • Strong technical acumen and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to translate technical knowledge into practical solutions for growers
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both English and Afrikaans
  • Skilled in relationship-building with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Organized, self-driven and able to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel when required
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Developing and maintaining crop programs using in-house and partner solutions.
  • Conducting regular field visits to support technical problem-solving with customers and the commercial team.
  • Coordinating and monitoring trial work to generate regional data and build confidence in products.
  • Supporting complaint investigations and providing technical resolution strategies.
  • Developing and executing crop-specific marketing strategies to promote product awareness and market share in the fruit segment.
  • Working with regional sales and portfolio teams to align technical insights with commercial campaigns.
  • Engaging industry stakeholders, including exporters and grower associations, to promote solutions and brands.
  • Organizing and facilitating training programs for commercial teams and key customers on product positioning, application techniques, and resistance management.
  • Ensuring continuous technical development of field staff through mentorship and formal training sessions.
  • Collaborating with the National Technical Manager to align technical recommendations with sales targets.
  • Supporting the commercial team with high-level grower interactions and product positioning at the farm level.
  • Using technical data and insights to drive new product introductions and product stewardship.
