Manages the aviation training, the inspectors responsible for processing all new ATO applications, auditing all approved training organisations in accordance with the SACAA regulations. Approval of SACAA curriculum and syllabus, approval of training material and approval and certification of
FSTDs.
Practical Training Oversight System
Develop and manage a system to oversee the practical standards of all aviation personnel licensed under Parts 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 68, 69, 71,72 and 101 of the CAR and to ensure this complies with ICAO and international best practice.
Ensure the oversight of designated examiners and instructors involved with practical /training of aviation personnel.
Training Standards Development
Develop, review, and implement practical training standards for aviation personnel license holders
Ensure that the developed standards comply with ICAO and meet the company objectives.
CATS and CAR Development
Develop, implement, and review applicable CATS and CAR to ensure that the practical training standards are up to date.
Manage any CAR and CATS amendments relating to the practical /training of aviation personnel.
Management of Direct Reports
Manage key performance areas of directly reporting personnel to ensure the achievement of their agreed objectives.
Mentor and monitor employees to fulfil their responsibilities within regulated standards and timeframes
Develop a culture of high performance that demonstrates SACAA core values and competencies
Facilitate skills development to ensure retention of staff
Industry Liaison
Liaise with industry and record problem-solving solutions and convey knowledge to the industry to allow for the improvement of standards.
Manage the participation of the industry in the development of practical examination/testing/training standards a
Manage the participation of the industry in the development of the oversight system
Portray a professional and positive image of the CAA.
EDUCATION
MINIMUM
NQF Level 6 Diploma in Management or Business Administration or Engineering. Plus, CPL or ATPL or Air Traffic Controller License or Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer or Appropriate SAAF Pilot with Category B Instructor rating.
IDEAL
NQF Level 7 Qualification plus relevant aviation license as per above with instructor rating
EXPERIENCE
4-7 Years experience in a Civil Aviation Environment OR
2-3 years Supervisory or Authorised Officer Experience in an Aviation Environment
