Main Purpose

Provide Technical Training:

Train DFA employees and contracting staff on DFA-specific products. Educate teams on the use of fibre equipment, including splice closures, termination panels, and related tools. Cover aspects such as labelling and data capturing to ensure proper building and maintenance of the DFA network.

Ensure Quality Assurance:

Oversee and provide quality assurance on special projects where needed. Review existing installation practises to ensure that all work meets DFA's established standards for performance and reliability.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS & TASKS)

Optical Training

Manage Training facility. Create training material on DFA products and equipment and keep the material up to date and relevant. Simplify the DFA Engineering standards into SOP's for teams. Provide the Training to teams on the following. + DFA Products
+ DFA fibre equipment
+ Correct use of Tools
+ Correct testing procedures
+ Labelling and data capturing
+ DFA optical standards and procedures
+ Any other training deemed necessary
+ Ensure teams can build any product effectively end-end
+ Ensure teams can maintain product end-end effectively
+ Quality Training
Work with both operational management and engineering management to ensure best training is provided to satisfy the needs. Work with the HR training representatives to schedule the training and all related aspects of the training.

Quality Specialist

Provide Quality signoffs on special projects Ensure Quality is maintained and re-signed off after maintenance repairs on special project. Understand DFA's internal connectivity requirements. Have an in-depth understanding of DFA's products. An understanding of DFA network and capabilities.

Miscellaneous

Attend to any other relevant and reasonable tasks as may be required from time to time

Competencies and Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications and experience:

Senior certificate Relevant vendor-specific certifications 10+ years of experience in fiber optic network installation, maintenance, or design. 5+ years of experience in a training or quality assurance role. Experience working with DFA or similar telecom/fiber optic infrastructure companies. Hands-on experience with fiber testing tools (OTDR, power meters, etc.).

Training and Development: Ability to create training materials tailored to various levels of expertise. Strong presentation and communication skills to deliver engaging, effective training. Patience and adaptability to address diverse learning needs. Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex fiber optic issues. Analytical skills to evaluate network performance and propose improvements. Project Management: Experience managing special projects and ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks. Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to ensure all training content and QA checks meet DFA standards. Interpersonal and Leadership Skills: Ability to lead teams and foster collaboration among internal and external stakeholders. Skills in providing constructive feedback and coaching.

Knowledge

Fiber Optic Technology: Principles of fiber optics, including light transmission, attenuation, and dispersion. Types of fiber optic cables (single-mode, multi-mode) and their applications. Fiber Equipment and Tools: Proficiency in using and training on splice closures, termination panels, optical splitters, and other hardware. Familiarity with testing tools such as OTDRs (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers), power meters, and light sources. Installation and Maintenance Standards: Knowledge of DFA installation, splicing, and maintenance procedures. Understanding of industry standards like ITU-T, ISO/IEC, and TIA/EIA. Labeling and Documentation: Best practices for durable labeling and accurate data capturing for network assets. Use of network documentation and management systems. Quality Assurance: Experience conducting audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure compliance with DFA's quality standards. * Familiarity with root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
