To plan, organize, direct and control Maintenance Control Centre and Production control for provision of aircraft maintenance services to SAAT customers in accordance with the agreed service level agreements, company and customer requirements.
The incumbent will be responsible for managing the staff schedules, quality standards, safety, regulatory requirements and financial management. This role is required to be contactable and available after hours and weekends.
Principal Accountabilities
Manage and direct the Maintenance Control Centre and Production control operation in
line with regulatory and organizational requirements to ensure adequate control of aircraft
and power-plant defects.
Implement and maintain a defect control system for airframe and power-plant to ensure that defects are identified and corrected with minimum interruption to flight schedule.
Implement and maintain a reliability program for airframe and power plant to ensure that defects trends are identified and resolved in time.
Implement a borescope programme in compliance with the Approved Maintenance Program.
Implement and maintain a system for monitoring deviations and/or concessions for aircraft related systems.
Implement and maintain an effective production control system to ensure that all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities are performed efficiently.
Implement and maintain an invoicing system to ensure that all work is accounted for and billed in accordance with the customer maintenance agreements.
Implement and maintain a system of continuous aircraft tracking to address any failures experienced during and/or after flight in time.
Ensure that all maintenance and flight information is captured within the Maintenance Information Systems for an accurate defects database
Liaise with all stakeholders for implementation of defects corrective actions.
Attend and chair meetings
2. Manage the spares, tooling and equipment usage in line with regulatory and
organizational requirements to ensure timely delivery as required.
a)Implement and maintain a system for controlling tools and equipment allocated to the section.
b)Implement a system for hire-loan of tooling and spares.
3. Manage the aircraft movement operations to ensure that all aircraft towing
requirements are performed timely in accordance with regulatory and
Organizational requirements.
a)Develop and implement a system for aircraft movements.
b)Implement a maintenance and inspection program to ensure serviceability of ground support equipment.
4. Establish and manage the section's budget in line with SAAT Operations' objectives
Contribute to establishing the annual budget
Plan and review the capital budget in line with SAAT operations' strategy/objectives
Manage and optimise the section's budget, ensuring all expenditure is in line with the agreed and approved budgets, as well as delegation of authority
Manage expenditure to ensure that it remains within the budget at all times, and variations are minimised.
Manage invoicing processes in order to ensure timeous and efficient generation of correct invoices and minimise cash flow issues.
Produce reports to track expenditure as required.
5. Enforce compliance with Quality Standards and Regulations in order to minimise
SAAT's exposure to risk
Enforce adherence to all regulatory, safety and compliance requirements
Manage delivery of work in line with the relevant regulatory requirements and where required, put contingency plans in place to reduce risk for the organisation
Continually seek ways to improve performance, efficiencies and maximize the use of resources. Track performance, especially deficiencies, and put contingency plans in place to prevent a recurrence of the same deficiency
Manage the environment and keep it at the required standard of health and safety and comply with policies and procedures, as well as client SLA's
Oversee safety training and aware campaigns in order to ensure that staff are kept up to date
Create awareness of safety, health and environmental regulations so as to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
6. Maintain customer satisfaction at the highest possible level
Manage relationships and service levels at all times in accordance with applicable technical handling contracts and service level agreements.
Provide input to the Marketing Department for pricing, costs and timelines for customers.
Resolve complaints, queries and manage risk.
Ensure that all SLA's are enforces, and all turnaround times are met.
7. To manage the section's human resources in line with SAAT's HR policies and
Procedures
Recruit staff per the sections staffing demand
Identify the training needs of the section's staff and implement developmental interventions in order to ensure and maintain competence
Develop performance appraisals.
Initiate appropriate Labour Relation action within the section where necessary
Motivate employees within the section to ensure high morale and improve productivity
Adhere to all HR policies and procedures
Maintain regular staff meetings and feedback sessions
Qualifications & Experience
Relevant Engineering Degree or equivalent plus 7 years' Operations Management experience in MRO (of which 4 years in a Supervisory Position, 3 years in an environment with a large headcount and with union involvement). These years of experience may have been gained simultaneously

Relevant Engineering Diploma/N6 plus 9 years' experience Operations Management experience in MRO (of which 5 years in a Supervisory Position 5 years in an environment with a large headcount and with union involvement).These years of experience may have been gained simultaneously
OR
No degree / diploma, must have an Aircraft trade plus 12 years' experience Operations Management experience in MRO, of which 7 years in a Supervisory Position 5 years in an environment with a large headcount and with union involvement).These years of experience may have been gained simultaneously
