Minimum Requirements
A Master's Degree in Law (LLM) or equivalent qualification.
Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a legal management role.
Admitted Attorney will be preferred
Strong understanding of the South African legal system and corporate law.
Demonstrated experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and legal documents.
Demonstrated experience in general litigation with the insurance and collections environment.
Proficiency in compliance management and risk mitigation practices.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment.
Experience in providing strategic legal counsel on business operations and projects.
Strong leadership abilities, with a focus on fostering innovation and excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
Keep up to date drafting registers and policies/agreement registers for various business units.
Keep in safe custody all client facing legal documents/policies/terms and conditions for various business units.
Draft, manage and monitor operational compliance of the various legal documents (in line with applicable legislation) for various business units.
Amend the various legal documents with latest applicable legislative changes and requirements.
Keep abreast of new legislation and regulatory changes in conjunction with the Compliance Team.
Identify and communicate current and anticipated legal issues with the relevant business units.
Review and provide sign-off (through understanding and applying relevant legal requirements) for all marketing material distributed by the SA Taxi Group in conjunction with the Compliance Team.
Oversee sign-off from for relevant legal requirements on all documentation relating to the credit providers, financial services provider, parts retailer, vehicle dealership, rewards programme and telematics offering.
Define and drive strategic and operational initiatives with on-time and on-budget results.
Identify and implement legal department tools to streamline new or existing practices, as well as manage design, rollout, and training for new systems.
Assist with optimizing workflows within the legal department.
Assist with managing the contract management process and system.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, sales, operations, business optimisation, insurance, collections, risk, credit and finance as well as well as various business units.
Provide legal training, together with the Compliance Team, to various business units relating to the SA Taxi Group legal structure, policy document and terms and conditions of that group scheme.
Provide and manage legal training and development, together with the Compliance Team, in terms of gaps identified in the business.
Implement and manage an internal legal newsletter for rest of SA Taxi.
Have a general understanding of applicable legislation (Companies Act, National Credit Act, FAIS, Insurance Act and related legislation, FSR Act, POPI, FICA, PPR, Consumer Protection Act).
Provide monthly updates/feedback to Legal Executive on all projects in-flight and those that have been successfully implemented.
