Job Description


The incumbent is responsible for the strategic direction and daily operations of the Accounting function, balancing the delivery of short, medium and long-term objectives, through the planning of budgets and forecasts, the interpretation of financial results, the monitoring of cashflow and expenditure and the preparation of and interpretation of management information. The incumbent should also actively manage the team of resources to ensure the achievement of the strategic direction and departmental goals and/or targets.

Budget Compliance

Complying with work rules, standards and methods.

Financial Management and Results

Ensuring that month end, mid month and other deadlines are accurate and are adhered to.

Coordinating the full financial function of the eMedia Group.

Reviewing and updating budgets, forecasts and cashflow.

Reviewing consolidations.

Ensuring that no financial losses occur to to employee error and/or the mismanagement of Company resources.

Review and authorisation of monthly payments for supplier invoices.

Ensuring the successful completion of the external annual audit without significant issues and ensuring that the deadlines are adhered to.

Planning, executing and managing the year end external audit for the eMedia Group.

Preparing and reviewing Management reports and Board Packs.

Complying with and managing internal audits and ensuring that no issues arise.

Reviewing Financial / Variance analyses when required.

Meeting with respective Business Unit Heads analysing their variance reports and suggesting recommendations to ensure that there is adherence to budgets.

Continually analysing expenditure and highlighting areas of concern to the Head: Finance Operations.

Assisting with any ad-hoc reports and functions which includes the monthly analysis of various key business unitsxe2x80x99 results.

Human Resources Management

Assisting the Accountants within the eMedia Group with any queries.

Ensuring that employees are adequately trained on the latest versions of the Accounting software packages.

Ensuring that employees are adequately trained and/or are aware of new and existing accounting standards and/or policies.

Ensure that all working practices, policies and processes are regularly assessed and adapted to create an accountable, performance driven culture with clear lines of accountability.

Controls and Risk Management

Drafting, implementing and monitoring controls and procedures.

Monitoring adherence to statutory regulations, organisational standards, policies and procedures.

Ensuring remedial actions are implemented timeously thus to address non conformances.

Ensuring regular and effective communication of statutory regulations, organisational standards, policies and procedures to ensure awareness and adherence amongst employees and contractors.

Remaining abreast and updating Management of changes in accounting and regulatory matters impacting the finance function of the Group.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Finance - Essential

Post Graduate Diploma in Finance - Recommended

Experience

5 years experience in Finance Management

3 years Supervisory experience in Finance Management
