Job Description


Overall Job Purpose

To provide substantive and operational support to the Energy and Environment Policy Director; manage the development and implementation of the strategy and work plan of the energy and environment standing committee of BUSA; conduct research and produce policy briefs, position papers, PowerPoint presentations, and various other outputs; compile reports on various activities of the energy and environment policy unit; provide secretarial services to the energy and environment standing committee; represent BUSA in Nedlac structures and various other fora; build and maintain good stakeholder relations, and perform a wide range of organizational and substantive functions to facilitate the efficient operation of the organisation.

Key Accountabilities * Contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic plan for the Standing Committee on Energy and Environment and its subcommittees.

  • Coordinate members inputs and prepare business positions on key strategic areas related to energy and environment policy.
  • Facilitate the development of a clear BUSA mandate on various aspects of energy and environment policy.
  • Manage the implementation of the work plan of the BUSA standing committee on energy and environment and its task teams.
  • Keep accurate records of all meetings and prepare and distribute meeting packs timeously.
  • Conduct research and produce policy briefs, position papers, PowerPoint presentations, and various other outputs
  • Prepare position papers on relevant policy matters that articulate a business position for Nedlac, parliament and other structures.
  • Represent BUSA in Nedlac structures and various other fora;
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Manage the nominations to appropriate national and international institutions, structures, and work groups linked to energy and environment policy.
  • Participate in relevant energy and environmental policy-related seminars and workshops to keep abreast of international developments.
  • Write periodic reports on the activities of the energy and environment policy unit.
  • Keep members informed of developments related to energy and environment policy.
  • Manage the submission of regular communication updates and reports to relevant structures on the work of the energy and environment policy unit.
  • Work on collaborative projects with teams drawn from different policy units.
  • Undertake any other delegated activities in the energy and environment policy unit.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Qualification: Bachelor of science, engineering, finance, economics, law, or related post-graduate degree
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 3 - 4 years
  • Management Experience: 1 year of experience
