Management Accountant

Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and analytical

Management Accountant

to join our South Africa finance team. Based in Cape Town and working on a hybrid model (approximately 50% office-based), you will support both regional and group finance operations. You'll be responsible for management reporting, cost control, and performance analysis, while also contributing to core transactional finance processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow management.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Management Accounting



Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts. Conduct variance analysis and monitor departmental spend. Assist with month-end close processes and reconciliation activities. Provide commentary and actionable insights to the Finance Manager and key stakeholders. Support and coach junior finance team members.

2. Transactional Finance



Oversee the accuracy of accounts payable and receivable processes. Reconcile customer receipts and supplier payments. Monitor cash positions and contribute to short- and long-term cash flow forecasts. Support payment runs and bank reconciliations. Liaise with internal departments and global teams on finance matters.

3. Process Improvement & Compliance



Recommend and implement process enhancements, automation, and best practices. Support the integration of finance tools and systems. Ensure compliance with internal controls, finance policies, and audit standards.

Requirements



Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Newly qualified or part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, SAIPA, SAICA or equivalent). 2-4 years' experience in a management accounting or financial role. Strong understanding of core finance functions, including AP, AR, and cash flow. Proficient in Excel and accounting systems such as Xero, NetSuite, or similar. Experience in a fast-paced, multi-entity or international environment is highly advantageous. Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
