Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Qualification in Horticulture/recognized landscape architectural professional certification
• 2/3 years' experience working in medium to large gardens
• Strong landscape, architecture and project management skills
• Knowledge of design trends, techniques, materials and world class practice.
• Proven track record and a strong portfolio that demonstrates excellence in design
• Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary design and delivery teams.
• Substantial experience in maintenance management, preferably in a large property or facility
• Demonstrated success in overseeing diverse maintenance operations, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment installations
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, and conversation)
• Afrikaans advantageous

Main Requirements of the Position:

• Liaise with clients to comprehend project scope and deliver excellent design solutions.
• Establish landscape requirements with clients and prepare detailed plans and drawings for project construction.
• Exhibit strong presentation skills to effectively communicate design concepts.
• Take ownership of projects with a proven track record of successful delivery.
• Ensure hotel gardens are immaculately manicured and well-maintained.
• Efficient operation of the irrigation system.
• Maintain aesthetically pleasing gardens and nursery.
• Keep all pathways clear and free of obstructions.
• Prune, trim, and dispose of plant debris.
• Regularly inspect and care for plants in rooms.
• Assist the kitchen in maintaining vegetable and herb gardens.
• Maintain and securely store all garden equipment.
• Establish controls for energy and water conservation.
• Set up and maintain a recycling center.
• Lead the design team from concept to construction documentation.
• Conduct on-the-job training and coaching sessions.
• Ensure recruitment procedures are followed for an efficient and skilled team.
• Complete HR status forms and conduct timely probationary and performance reviews.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and uphold uniform standards.
• Ensure fair and equitable discipline is applied.
• Further own knowledge of management methods and principles.
• Be available for relief management and contribute to upgrading management standards and maintenance procedures.
