Job Description

A leading manufacturer in the plastic industry is seeking a highly experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of their maintenance function in Southdale, Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical, electrical, and plumbing background, coupled with a proven track record in leading teams and managing maintenance strategies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:

• :Develop, implement, and oversee preventative and reactive maintenance strategies
• Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and procurement
• Ensure machinery, systems, and plant infrastructure operate efficiently and safely
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment breakdowns and technical issues
• Lead and supervise a team of technicians and artisans
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards
• Coordinate with production and operations teams to minimize downtime
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports
• Identify areas for process improvement and cost savings

Requirements:

• Degree or equivalent certification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field
• 10+ years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment
• At least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role
• Strong technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Hands-on experience with large-scale machinery and automation systems
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Willingness to travel occasionally between sites
