Gibela Rail Consortium invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Maintenance Artisan Boilermaker to be based in Dunnottar. The position reports to Maintenance Engineer.

Vacancy: Maintenance Artisan Boilermaker

Purpose of the Job

Repairs to carbon steel and aluminum assemblies in line with original OEM designs. Carry out maintenance and repair work as per instructions on job cards. Build machine components as per drawing.

SCM, LME, Maintenance.

Key responsibilities include the following:

• Perform oxy/acetylene fuel gas welding.
• Perform MIG & TIG welding.
• Perform manual metal arc welding.
• Perform gas metal arc welding.
• Welding of aluminum structures and components
• Undertake manual handling.
• Carry out mechanical cutting.
• Apply fabrication, forming and shaping techniques.
• Repair, replace and/or modify fabrications.
• Fabrication of structural components from detailed drawings
• Cut, bend, shape, mold, or heat aluminum products to fabricate components and structures.
• Fit and assemble components by bolting or welding.
• Apply safe welding practices.
• Interpret technical drawings.
• Mark out structural fabrications and shapes.
• Organize and communicate information.
• Use hand tools.
• Plan repair work activities.
• Use hand-held and bench-mounted power tools.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 with Maths and Science
• Trade Tested Boilermaker.
• Competency welding certification would be advantageous (SAIW)
• Minimum 3 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in a metal fabrication environment
• Must have ability to read, write and follow procedures.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to follow instructions.
• Must be able to relate well with people.
• Must be able to manage time well, by prioritizing and sequencing tasks.
• Must be able to consistently stand for entire shift
