Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Daily Maintenance
- Handle maintenance requests for communal buildings and estate infrastructure
- Assign tasks to the maintenance team and follow up on completion
- Help manage the helpdesk or job card system
- Inspect estate areas and assets regularly
- Perform or oversee small repairs (electrical, plumbing, handyman work)
- Assist with preventative maintenance planning
- Oversee maintenance team performance
- Schedule and manage third-party contractors for small projects or services
- Be available on-site to provide logistics and support
- Monitor tools, equipment, and supplies
- Ensure proper tool usage, storage, and maintenance
- Request materials when needed
- Follow and enforce health and safety guidelines
- Report hazards and incidents
- Be available for emergency call-outs and planning
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- A technical or trade certificate in building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical work is preferred
- Valid Code B drivers license
- 35 years of general maintenance or facilities experience
- Prior estate, hospitality, or community maintenance experience is a plus
- Supervisory experience is advantageous
- Strong knowledge of general maintenance and repair
- Good problem-solving and planning ability
- Able to use basic digital tools (Excel, email, maintenance systems)
- Reliable and proactive
- Neat and respectful when dealing with residents
- Calm under pressure
- A team player who follows instructions well
