Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Specialist with expertise in zVM and zLinux to join our team and work closely with our client's Mainframe team. The ideal candidate will assist with the alignment of technical initiatives to business requirements, contribute to operational stability, and ensure the successful maintenance of the zVM and zLinux environments. You will act as an extension of the customer's zVM team, providing expert support and guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in aligning zVM and zLinux technical initiatives with the client's business needs.
Provide recommendations and implement best practices for Disaster Recovery (DR) planning and reporting for zVM and zLinux systems.
Support the daily operations and ongoing maintenance of the IBM zVM and zLinux environments.
Act as a key extension of the customer's internal zVM team to ensure continuity and deep integration.
Support customer and IBM teams with PSP (Preventive Service Planning) maintenance and technical support calls.
Scope of Services:
Deliver expert-level support in maintaining and operating zVM and zLinux environments.
Contribute to operational activities, standards development, and the implementation of procedures and methodologies aligned with industry best practices.
Perform hardware and software monitoring specific to zVM and zLinux.
Offer day-to-day operating system support (limited to Monday-Friday office hours).
Provide consulting services and collaborate with internal stakeholders and IBM to support business-aligned mainframe service delivery.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
Proven experience with IBM zVM and zLinux operating environments.
Strong knowledge of mainframe system operations, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
Familiarity with Disaster Recovery procedures and reporting for virtualized Linux systems on mainframes.
Experience working with PSP maintenance and engaging in technical support collaboration with IBM.
Excellent problem-solving skills, self-driven, and able to operate independently within enterprise environments.
Preferred Certifications (advantageous):
IBM Certified Specialist - zVM/zLinux
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent
