Job Description

The Group has a Machine Shop Manager position available. The successful candidate will provide multi-skilled maintenance services to SA Metal - Machine Shop Department. He/she will also be required to:

• Manage the operations of the Machine Shop on a daily basis
• Planning of day to day jobs for the Machine Shop
• Compile SOP's for the Machine Shop
• Ensure that a high quality of work and safety standards are maintained
• Using computerized maintenance management system to plan, track and record daily tasks as well as raising new work requests
• Track manpower utilization and performance
• Ensure the service delivered is of high quality and according to drawing tolerances
• Coaching the Team with regards with technical support, planning of work, stores requirements, ordering of material and tools for the Machine Shop
• Monitor quality, accuracy and efficiency of teams work in terms of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies
• Completing urgent/critical jobs as operational requirements demand
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers
• Program with Edgecam (Milling and Laths) and assist team with programming
• Program and setup Siemens CNC and assist team to do the same
• Manage team attendance and timekeeping
• Ensure that the machines preventive maintenance is performed and that all equipment is in a good and safe condition
• Quality control on drawings submitted
• Any other tasks or adhoc duties, as agreed with the Manager, suited to this level of leadership

Qualifying Experience:

• Minimum 5 years' Management experience
• Minimum 10 years post trade test working experience in a manufacturing / production environment
• Relevant tertiary Qualification (N3 or higher)
• Relevant Trade Test Certificate
• Working knowledge of OHSA
• Excellent computer skills (MS Office)
• Good written, verbal and listening skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
• Valid Driver's license and own reliable transport
• Be fully competent and able to program with Edgecam (Milling and Laths)
• Be fully competent and able to program with G-Codes
• Have expertise on material characteristics

Standard hours

07h30-17h00: Monday - Thursday
07h30-16h00: Friday
