Position Title: Locomotive Shop Manager

Location: Midrand/Remote

Department: Service

Scope/Job Objective

The purpose of the role is to manage Wabtec onsite technical team and repair operations at the subcontractor facilities and ensure repairs are completed to the highest standards in collaboration with the subcontractor's Quality Assurance team. Will be responsible for EHS management to ensure adherence to Wabtecxe2x80x99s & Subcontractor EHS policy and implement best practices

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage locomotive repair operations at the subcontractor facility.
  • Collaborate with subcontractor's team to ensure repairs meet industry standards, contractual obligations, and project requirements.
  • Report performance and strategic initiatives to the Service Leader.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to align repair activities with project timelines.
  • Lead a team of technicians, providing guidance and support.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support career development.
  • Schedule and prioritize repair jobs based on urgency, customer requirements, and available resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of repair and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and stakeholders for parts and equipment availability.
  • Ensure repairs are completed to the highest standards in collaboration with the subcontractor's Quality Assurance team.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and regulations.
  • Manage EHS onsite - adherence to Wabtecxe2x80x99s EHS policy and implement best practices.
Qualification and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of locomotive repair and maintenance experience, with 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of locomotive systems, components, and repair techniques.
