As a Key Account Manager for CPD South Africa, you will be responsible for driving the sustainable and profitable growth of our iconic brands (such as L'Oreal Paris, Maybelline New York, and Garnier) within your assigned portfolio. You will act as the primary interface between L'Oreal and our retail partners, building long-term strategic relationships that ensure our products are at the heart of the South African consumer's beauty journey.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Account Planning & Growth
Develop and execute an annual business plan for assigned accounts that aligns with the CPD country strategy.
Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and consumer insights in South Africa to identify new white-space opportunities for growth.
Negotiate annual trade agreements (JBP - Joint Business Plans) and commercial terms to ensure win-win outcomes.
2. Commercial Excellence & Performance
Achieve and exceed monthly and annual turnover (sell-in) and market share (sell-out) targets.
Manage the P&L of your accounts, ensuring optimized trade spend and promotional efficiency (ROI analysis).
Monitor stock levels and forecast accuracy in collaboration with the Supply Chain team to prevent out-of-stocks in a complex logistical environment.
3. Negotiation & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong, influential relationships with Category Managers and Buyers.
Lead high-level negotiations for listings of new innovations, permanent space, and secondary placements.
Conduct regular business reviews with retailers to track performance against KPIs.
4. Merchandising & Brand Image
Collaborate with the Trade Marketing and Field Sales/Operations teams to ensure the "Perfect Store" execution.
Oversee the implementation of planograms and ensure our brands have the best representation and "Share of Shelf" in the beauty aisle.
Coordinate large-scale promotional activations and events tailored to the South African retail calendar (e.g., Black Friday, Festive Season, Heritage Day).
5. Data-Driven Insights
Utilize retailer portal data (e.g., Clicks/Dis-Chem data) and internal analytics to track performance.
Translate complex data into actionable insights for the marketing and sales leadership teams.
Professional Profile & Requirements
Education: A University Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience: 5 to 7 years of experience in Key Account Management or Sales within the FMCG sector. Experience in the South African Beauty or Personal Care/Cosmetics market is highly advantageous.
Negotiation Skills: A proven track record of managing complex negotiations with major South African retailers.
Analytical Rigor: Strong proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools; ability to manage a P&L.
