Job Description


A leading FMCG Company is seeking a Logistics Specialist.

This role is suited for a talented individual who has incredibly strong supply chain and financial acumen, with a focus on data and cost reduction within operations. The logistics specialist will analyze local supply chain costs supporting the local logistics team is implementing cost saving initiatives. Evaluation of costs, rate cards and rate increases, in support of rate negotiations with 3PLxe2x80x99s. Analyze and support with root causes of damages received/claimed and validity of claims from 3PLxe2x80x99s. Assist with investigations into Cooler damages, maintenance, and destruction of unused assets, collating the necessary CCF sustainability information. To prevent unplanned costs and support with projects to improve a lean supply chain model on imports and double-digit growth to South Africa. To develop and set up our IBT movements & optimal warehouse stock allocation/utilization. Automation and other initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

LOGISTICS FUNCTIONS

  • Work on the inbound container network and improve Port Direct Container % for CPT, PE, and DBN
  • by a minimum of 5% for these ports of entry based on the current base container volume.
  • Project member to improve inbound container visibility to reduce the cost of container storage
  • and reduce lead time / GRV time.
  • Inform Supply and Demand planner on all direct movements to align with product planning
  • (IBTxe2x80x99s)
  • Assist in the management of 3PL service providers and other vendors such as courier 3PL a clearing agent.
  • Manage reports and reconcile all stock aging.
  • REPORTING AND IMPROVEMENT PROCESSES
  • Report and track the following monthly:
  • DEM/DET cost for all shipments and imports.
  • Driving Improvement.
  • Cost analysis on material movements.
  • Reduction in DEM/DET cost for all shipments and imports.
ZA OPERATIONS
  • Report any inefficacies to the applicable manager and propose ways of improvement.
  • Lead Sugar Tax Duty Drawbacks for Exports into Botswana, Swaziland, and Lesotho.
  • Reduce WHSE & DIST cost savings through efficiencies such as a co-loading project with 3PL and managing this.
  • Lead co-packing at 3PL to support Off Premise with display stands while ensuring optimal stock levels of materials are maintained.
  • Develop models and templates within Logistics to monitor and mitigate costs/overspend in Local COGS and PDC.
  • Stay abreast of best-in-class processes within Logistics and benchmark regularly.
PROVIDE SUPPORT AND INSIGHTS
  • Act as stand-in for the Logistics Coordinator & Logistics Manager functions.
  • Supply Logistics and Demand Planning with IBT (inter-branch transfer) movement and warehouse stock allocation/utilization.
  • Act as intermediate between 3PL, clearing agents and finance with regards to claims, insurance, destruction, and theft. Analyze and support with root causes of damages received/claimed and validity of claims from 3PLs.
  • Assist with investigations into Cooler damages, maintenance, and destruction of unused assets, collating the necessary CCF sustainability information.
  • Evaluation of costs, rate cards, and rate increases, in support of rate negotiations with 3PLxe2x80x99s.
ACCOUNT AND PAYMENT RECONCILIATION:
  • Verify (Together with the Logistics Manager) all invoices related to the movement of goods, and or service as requested by the Operations department.
  • Ensure payments are made and processed in full and on time.
  • Ensure all invoice-related queries are resolved within acceptable timeframes.
  • Process, keep records and file all documents as required by the business.
QUALITY MANAGEMENT:
  • Handle all insurance claims related to product damage with applicable Head Office staff.
  • Actively partake in any sustainability projects as required by business.
  • Lead RBZAxe2x80x99s 2024 SARS Authorized Economic Operator accreditation and improved speed of SARS customs and duty processing, reducing customs stops & inspections that will reduce cost.
VISIT
  • Support projects and budgeting of VISIT 3PL.
  • Assist with ME recon and visibility.
  • Risk mitigation xe2x80x93 ensuring all VISIT LOAxe2x80x99s are maintained and applied to avert penalty fees.
Qualifications and experience:
  • A tertiary qualification in either Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or Industrial Engineering, Data Analystics that supports supply chain functions.
  • Competent in business intelligence software such as Power BI, Tableau or other software used for managing data and creating visualizations for decision-making.
  • Excellent excel skills.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office) & SAP non-negotiable.
  • SAPICS qualification would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years' experience in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
  • Handling high volumes and requests in a pressurized environment.
  • Previous experience within 3PL / logistics/supply chain would be beneficial.
