Aut-to-Play is a new, warm, friendly, family-style residential and day schooling hub for autistic children and teens. We champion learner dignity, structure, and joyful routines--supported by practical, evidence-informed care. We're now looking for three (3) professional, hardworking, caring, and passionately child-centred live-in caregivers to join our friendly, energetic team and support our kids to reach their full potential.
The role (what you'll do)
You'll provide hands-on daily care and help our Educator during class time for autistic learners aged 6-15 years old. Rotating with a small team, you'll ensure a calm, predictable environment that supports communication, learning, and self-care.
Key responsibilities
Daily care & routines: morning and evening care, bathing/toileting support, dressing, sleep routines, behaviour regulation, and maintaining dignity at all times.
Meal prep: simple, nutritious meals and snacks; safe food handling; allergies and portions logged.
Classroom assistance: set-up/pack, visuals and schedules, transitions, data sheets, one-to-one support as guided by the educator.
Laundry & hygiene: learner clothing and linen; room tidiness; maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the facility.
Safety & reporting: constant supervision; immediate incident reporting (injury/illness/behaviour); administering of medication (prescription only and recorded).
Stock & housekeeping: daily grocery/consumables checks; receiving and recording parent-supplied items.
Teamwork & communication: positive, respectful collaboration; follow roster and hand-overs.
What we're looking for
Minimum: Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent
Basic numeracy and literacy skills
Experience: 3-5 years in a residential care or special-needs setting (children, adults with disabilities, or elders). Autism experience is strongly preferred.
Professional conduct: consistently punctual, uniformed, and respectful; follows safeguarding, confidentiality (POPIA), and incident-reporting protocols at all times.
Availability & shifts: willing to work most weekends on a rotating roster and to support our short school holiday programmes in April and October for residential learners.
Annual closures: June and December are our long-holiday closure periods (no programme running).
Core skills: calm under pressure, reliable routines, clear communication with families and team, accurate record-keeping.
Fit for duty: able to manage physically demanding care (bathing, transfers, de-escalation, night routines) and maintain high standards of hygiene and safety.

Remuneration & benefits
Total Cost to Company (CTC): Negotiable based on skills, and experience
