In considering candidates for appointment into the advertised posts, preference will be accorded to persons from a designated group in accordance with the approved Nelson Mandela University Employment Equity Plan.CORE PURPOSE OF JOBTo assist the Senior Librarian: Electronic Resources Management (ERM) by continuing and expanding access to all e-resources through responsible acquisition, bibliographic, administration and maintenance in support of Learning, Teaching and Research.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• To execute all ERM operational processes and workflows related to the acquiring, licensing, accession, and maintenance of all e-resources.
• Monitoring the subscription renewals, payments, and usage statistics of the e-resources.
• To ensure that the bibliographic records are full records and that all the information on the records is correct and updated regularly.
• To ensure that all URL links are updated and accessible on the ILS, Knowledge Base, and the Library Catalogue.
• To be able to communicate with vendors, publishers and knowledge agents on products, services, and access-related queries.
• To assist the Senior Librarian: ERM in ensuring that all e-resources are accessible in a seamless manner by being able to adapt to a changing environment and keeping abreast of emerging technologies and metadata standards.

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Experience working in a networked academic university library and integrated operations and how these operations relate to providing intellectual access to e-resources.
• Experience in technical support services with regards to systems, networks and the online environment.
• Effective communication skills.
• Good judgment and initiative, effective problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills and excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of the digital publishing industry.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Meticulous in data entry, responsible, accountable and flexible.

REQUIREMENTSTo be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must possess:

• M+3: Library and Information Sciences or Information Technology (IT).
• Minimum of 3 years working experience in an ERM or IT environment in an academic institution.
• Knowledgeable working with Integrated systems, Tools, Information Dissemination and Microsoft Excel.
