With a formidable portfolio of industrial, retail, commercial and residential assets, they operate across South Africa, Central and East Africa, managing over 400,000sqm of assets. Since a recent acquisition is set to push the portfolio to over the 100 buildings mark, they are looking to boost capacity in their busy legal team which manages more than 200 unique instructions per month.

Based at their beautiful Johannesburg office, in this role you will assist the Head of Legal, providing legal guidance and support to various internal departments to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, protect the organization's assets, maintain its reputation, an minimize risk. Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks including scrutinizing, vetting or drafting a wide range of agreements, letters of demand, acquisitions documentation, lease agreements and procurement contracts. While you'll closely collaborate with the Head of Legal, and enjoy the support of a legal assistant, you'll also have the experience & skill to manage matters independently and provide sound advice to Human Resources, the Development Team, Asset Manager, Corporate Finance and Property Management. It cannot be stressed enough that there is a high volume of administration in this role, which will require a hands-on individual who is able to multi-task and prioritise, and who is capable of handling both internal and external conflict in a mature and relationship building manner.

Only admitted attorneys can be considered for this position which also requires at least 3 years of experience in the property industry outside of private practice. Your practical experience in landlord/tenant matters will be tested daily and will necessitate proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook, drafting and research skills, teamwork abilities, communication skills, analytical skills, financial literacy, and strong time management capabilities.
