Job Purpose



To support the faculty and department in pursuit of its academic and research objectives which include to: teach according to a set syllabus; undertake research and innovation; contribute to curriculum development and design; engage in work integrated learning and service learning activities.



Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum Requirements: Lecturer

A Master's Degree in Design or Business Administration with an underpinning qualification in one of these fields: Product Design, Visual Communication Design, Jewellery Design or Fashion Design. At least two (2) years' relevant lecturing experience in Higher Education Knowledge of and experience in Business administration within a design industry context

Recommendations

At least two (2) years' business administration experience within a design company or own design business venture

Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's qualification in order to appoint at the Lecturer level.

A BTech/Honours Degree or equivalent in Design or Business Administration with an underpinning qualification in one of these fields: Product Design, Visual Communication Design, Jewellery Design or Fashion Design Eligible to register for or already registered for a Master's Degree in Design or Business Administration Knowledge of and experience in Business administration within a design industry context

Recommendations

At least one (1) year's lecturing experience in Higher Education At least one (1) years' Business Administration experience within a design company or own design business venture Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
Lecture subjects within the field of Business and Design Entrepreneurship Participate in curriculum development Perform appropriate academic and administrative duties in the Department Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department Participate in research Contribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into curriculum. Develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies on co-operative education, new techniques/technologies, and research projects Assist with marketing and recruitment activities (incl.- Career Day and Open Day Events) Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department Competencies
