Job Requirements

nGAP lecturers will be appointed on the university's staff establishment as permanent staff at the outset of employment, subject to satisfactory performance. The nGAP involves the recruitment, support and retention of highly capable young scholars as new academics in the above mentioned disciplines. The university has a vacant position in the field of Health Measurement, Communicable and Non-Communicable diseases.

The nGAP Programme provides a wonderful supporting environment for aspirant academics to complete their studies while developing teaching and learning, research and innovation as well as community engagement skills.

The following generic criteria are applicable: o Interest in becoming an academic

o Be 40 years or younger

o Evidence of eligibility to undertake postgraduate study at a Doctoral level

o Be willing to commit to placement at the University of Venda for the full eight years of the programme consisting of three years of development, three years of induction as an academic and two years as a fully inducted academic.

Requirements: o Master's degree in Public Health with specialization in communicable and non-communicable diseases with an average pass mark of 70% o Eligibility and willingness to register and complete a Doctoral degree in the relevant field of specialization during the first three years of employment as an nGAP Lecturer

o Teaching and research ability is highly recommended

o Ability to work independently and collaboratively in discharging duties

o Computer literacy

Duties

: Lecture students at undergraduate and postgraduate level

o Initiate and be involved in community engagement initiatives

o Curriculum and programme development oSetting and assessment of exam papers and assessing portfolio of evidence

o Supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and undertake research

o Involvement in departmental research and publications

o Assist with administrative duties in the department and/or school

o Attendance of developmental workshops for teaching and learning

o Participation in tutoring and mentoring activities

o Participation in all components and activities of the nGAP programme for the duration of the contract.
