We're recruiting a Lead Design Engineer to coordinate and oversee multidisciplinary engineering activities across high-voltage substation projects and tenders. This is a senior technical role for someone who enjoys guiding design quality, resolving technical challenges, and acting as the central engineering interface between clients, suppliers, and site teams.

The Role
As Lead Design Engineer, you will coordinate all engineering deliverables for assigned projects and tenders.
You'll ensure technical alignment across disciplines, manage interfaces with suppliers and customers, and support site teams through installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
This role sits between hands-on technical depth and project-level coordination, rather than pure people management.
Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering activities across multiple disciplines on substation projects
• Review and approve technical deliverables to ensure scope, quality, and schedule alignment
• Manage technical interfaces with internal teams, external consultants, and clients
• Review equipment specifications, BOQs, RFQs, and supplier technical submissions
• Coordinate and resolve technical issues with suppliers during manufacturing and testing
• Support design change, variation, and risk management processes
• Interface with customers and consultants for technical clarifications and approvals
• Provide technical support to site teams during installation, testing, and commissioning
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards, procedures, and project requirements

Technical Background

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• Strong domain expertise in high-voltage substation engineering
• Experience in primary and/or secondary substation design, with working knowledge across both domains
• Exposure to:

• Substation layouts, earthing, cabling, lightning protection
• Protection and control systems, relay panels, SCADA / RTU interfaces
• Auxiliary systems (LV AC, DC systems, batteries, chargers, UPS, auxiliaries)
• Experience coordinating with civil and MEP disciplines on infrastructure projects
• Understanding of installation, testing, and commissioning requirements

Experience Profile

• Minimum 10 years' experience in power or substation engineering
• At least 3 years in a lead or coordination role preferred
• Experience supporting both project execution and tendering activities
• Strong technical report writing and documentation skills
• Confident communicator with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
