They will participate, coordinate, and execute infrastructure projects as well as oversee ongoing operations and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and utilities. This will involve corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance techniques as well as operational and design feedback for maintaining and improving all systems at PyraLink Aerospace's rocket launch site in Overberg, Arniston.RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinate all phases of site development projects including coordination with other groups on site to maximize productivity and organize schedules to fit operationsContractor management including request for proposal, specification and selection of supplierProvide technical engineering support/information to ensure construction/maintenance complies with all standards, codes, and specificationsCommission, operate and maintain facilities with mechanical and electrical systemsVerify maintenance is being completed and coordinate all repair, build, and contingency systems efforts for HVAC, high power, cranes, facility systems (e.g. lighting, doors, roof leaks), security systems, and fire protection systemsDevelop cost estimates, material requisitions, plans and specifications for multiple small and large multi-discipline projectsWrite, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-outPrepare and coordinate capital expenditure process; including reviews, approvals and execution of site capital projects ensuring technical specifications, budget and deadlines are metCommunicate and deliver building/maintenance activities and schedule to personnel, subcontractors and material suppliers to effectively and efficiently execute targeted deadlinesEnsure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installationsRespond to facility emergencies and own facility readiness procedures for hurricanes and environmental threatsWork with CSIR & Denel to acquire building permits when appropriate, and ensure all certificates and final inspections have been obtained prior to project close outBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in an engineering discipline2+ years of professional experience with facilities engineering and/or constructionExperience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design softwarePREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:2+ years of experience in facility maintenance (electrical, HVAC, and/or structural) and facility construction (buildings, roads, drainage, foundations, etc.)Ability to perform and manage technically complex projects using independent judgement and personal initiativeExperience reading, reviewing, and approving shop and fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical manualsExperience using precision measuring instrumentsAbility to produce drawings for welders and machine shop fabrication in AutoCADStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environmentExperience operating boom lifts, man lifts, fork lifts and cranesProficient skill level using Microsoft Office suiteADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to pass SA Air Force background check for Overberg Air Force BaseAbility to travel to other PyraLink Aerospace project sites to support workOccasionally exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments- heat, cold, rainWork performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odours, and noiseMust be available to work extended hours and weekendsA valid driverxe2x80x99s licenseLead design reviews and activation testingServe as a technical interface to customers and suppliersMonitor and participate in ground system build and test, hands-on in the field, alongside skilled technician teamsCollaborate with engineers and technicians when performing critical operations on non-flight hardware including mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systemsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in an engineering disciplineExperience with CAD and FEA software packages (can be in a professional, academic, entrepreneurial, or hobby setting)Hands-on hardware experience performing fabrication, assembly and/or testing (can be in a professional, academic, entrepreneurial, or hobby setting)PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Experience with NX/Teamcenter designing parts and assembliesDemonstrated ability to own hardware or systems within an integrated engineering team outside a classroom setting (Engineers without Borders, Design-Build-Fly, PYRA student launch, personal entrepreneurial ventures, etc.)Analytical/scientific programming experience (Python, Matlab, Excel, etc.)Hands-on experience working with complex fluid or mechanical systems in a professional settingDemonstrated expertise in the design, build, and operation of systems per any of the following: o Fluids -ASME B31.3, ASME B&PV Code Section VIII o Mechanical: AFSPCMAN 91-710, ASME B30, ASME BTH-1, NASA-STD-5005Excellent written and oral communication, especially translating technical concepts for non-technical audiencesGeneral hands-on mechanical experience: welding, automotive, robotics, rocketry, etc.Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphereUnfazed by change in strategic directionADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to pass SA Air Force background check for Overberg Test RangeMust be willing to travel to other PyraLink Aerospace locations as necessary50 hour work week is typical, and may vary depending on site operational needs, flexibility is requiredJob Type: Full-timeAbility to Commute:Cape Town, Western Cape (Required)
