Laboratory Technician (Plant)
(Automotive Manufacturing)
Department: Quality
Job Purpose:
Perform laboratory tests to ensure product quality and help develop new formulations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- National Diploma/N6 in Analytical Chemistry or related field
- At least 3 years testing lab experience in automotive manufacturing
- Relevant certification
- Collect and register raw material and process samples
- Conduct product quality tests (e.g., density, tensile strength, flammability, porosity) per standards
- Operate laboratory equipment (e.g., hardness tester, tensile tester, ovens)
- Record and report results daily; prepare technical reports
- Coordinate testing with external labs and other plants
- Assist with product development and wet testing
- Support product audits and annual inspections
- Ensure equipment calibration and lab maintenance
- Follow quality management systems (QMS) and record keeping
- Identify and report quality issues; support improvements
- Conduct capability and measurement system analyses
