Laboratory Technician

Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that water and boreholes quality meet the SANS 241:2015 requirements. Perform laboratory tests at required intervals and from required sampling points. Inform Senior Process Controller, Regional Manager and Scientific Services of emergency situations including quality failures. Manage/ optimize water quality analysis and coordinate independent analysis reports. Ensure proper quality management for the region. Maintain and adhere to integrated environmental management policy for regional activities. Provide regular maintenance of laboratory equipment and units and regular cleaning of the laboratory. Submit monthly reports to the Senior Process Controller and Scientific Services. Budget for lab equipment and chemicals. Maintain discipline and attend to administrative function for leave, overtime and quarterly reviews for all subordinates. Observe all Health and Safety protocols and procedures. All assignments as directed from time to time.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
BSc/ B. Tech Chemistry or Microbiology. Tech Quality would be an added advantage. 2-year practical experience in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory implementing and maintaining the quality management system. Computer literacy. * Valid driver's license.
