Minimum Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Matric (Grade 12 / NSC)
ISO 17025 Training
Diploma or Degree in Wood Technology, Materials /Engineering or Chemistry
Minimum Experience
Formal training in ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
Minimum 2 years' experience in mechanical or physical materials testing.
Minimum 5 years' relevant laboratory experience
Skills & Competencies
Above average knowledge of all relevant ISO
Good physical health
Sound understanding of laboratory techniques, safety regulations, and ISO 17025.
Strong people management & communication skills.
Impartiality and professionalism in handling test results.
Duties & Responsibilities
Implement and maintain the PG Bison ISO/IEC 17025 management system and ensure adherence to its requirements.
Identify deviations from the management system, initiate preventive actions, and report on system performance.
Conduct regular checks on product quality and testing performance, ensuring results meet specification.
Collect and record moisture and other quality-related samples in accordance with procedure.
Draw and test samples from reject material to determine cause and ratio of defects.
Perform two-hourly board testing and report deviations promptly.
Complete, record, and submit all laboratory reports and forms accurately and on time.
Ensure safe laboratory practices and compliance with PG Bison's Health & Safety standards.
Conduct routine physical and chemical tests, compute and record relevant data.
Maintain laboratory equipment, report deviations or malfunctions to management, and ensure timely corrective action.
Supervise and evaluate lab staff competence, ensuring training is conducted and documented.
Manage test methods and documentation to ensure they remain up to date and accessible.
Maintain impartiality and independence in test result verification and reporting.
Communicate all test results timeously to production lines and management.
Ensure good housekeeping, safe operations, and compliance with OHSA and company safety policies.
Verify test result accuracy, reliability, and traceability; re-test and confirm results as required.
* Act as a Laboratory Signatory for verification and approval of test results.
