Description:
A company that produces chemical products for a variety of industries is seeking a focused, passionate, and hardworking Laboratory Manager to join their team. The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for matters pertaining to quality control, approval of company products and certificate of analysis, and managing the on-going development, implementation, and maintenance of the laboratory management system in accordance with SANAS and ISO 17025 requirements. The laboratory manager will directly report to the managing director. The duties include, but are not limited to, day-to-day functioning and managing of the laboratory, its activities, and personnel; developing, modifying, validating, and verifying new proposed test methods; performing analytical chemical tests and authorizing of results; providing sound reporting and feedback regarding laboratory findings and results to internal customers and top management; report writing and compiling of records; quality control support and adherence to the requirements of the ISO 17025 accreditation system; accepting responsibility as technical signatory and nominated representative as per SANAS requirements; managing equipment calibrations, verifications, and standardizations; and managing the approval of external product and services procurement.


Key Requirements:
The ideal candidate should have a B.Sc. Hons (Chemistry) degree or Postgraduate Diploma in a scientific field and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory. Operational experience in a SANAS ISO 17025 accredited facility will be advantageous.


Additional Requirements:
The ideal candidate should be scientifically oriented with basic and integrated science process skills and knowledge of general wet chemistry techniques and potentiometric titrations. Furthermore, the candidate should be analytical, logical, and a critical thinker with problem solving abilities; be proficient in Microsoft Office, data handling, and analysis of results; have excellent verbal communication, report- and scientific writing skills in English; have a positive and professional attitude; possess managerial skills and the ability to work independently and in a team; exhibit assertiveness and interpersonal skills; and have effective organizational and multi-tasking skills with an eye for detail.
