SGS Matrolab is seeking to fulfil key roles as Civil Engineering Assistant Laboratory Managers on KZN/ EC sites. The role requires the incumbent to assist with the management of a site laboratory. He / She will be responsible for all on site laboratory tasks. He / She shall be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and improvement of our quality systems. To ensure that the laboratory functions smoothly, with excellent quality of service, the saving of manpower cost, which contribute to accuracy, productivity and profitability. To ensure all equipment are cleaned and maintained on a regular basis. To ensure materials testing are completed in all laboratory division, including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, aggregate with bench calculation as and when required for testing. To assist the Laboratory Manager ensure that the laboratory is clean at all times and will carry out all work-related instructions from the authorized personnel.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a person that is disciplined and treat colleagues and management with respect, deadline & revenue driven and possessing enough energy and passion to maintain good staff relationships. A successful career in delivering performance against agreed strategic objectives and ultimately ensuring that all quality and testing methods are observed, and any deviation is reported without delay.



SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• To ensure that company and group policies are implemented in the business, working and objectives are achieved.
• Streamline and optimize the existing HSE and quality systems and integrate branches that are not included.
• Ensure that the company's Quality management Programme is implemented and maintained.
• Quality (Client complaints, data, personnel performance, turnaround, equipment).
• Client Satisfaction (meeting external and internal customer expectations from a service, quality and turnaround perspective).
• Actively participate /adopt/follow-up of Quality Improvement Projects/Programmes.
• Perform Internal Audits within the Industrial operations and quality systems.
• Ensure compliance with company/Group Safety Policy and local legislation concerning health and safety.
• Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.
• Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
• Operate to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Statement of Integrity Lead, coach and develop a business oriented team.
• Key Result Areas

• Establish, implement and maintain SHEQ management systems
• Sustain existing accreditations and quality systems
• Supervise and Reduce claims and complaints (external & internal)

Qualifications

• Matric
• Relevant National Diploma
• Must have completed at least one qualification in line with the job role.
• Microsoft software experience
• Document and report writing experience will be an advantage
• Statistical knowledge will be an advantage
• Environmental experience will be an advantage
