LABORATORY MANAGER

PERMANENT

MASIPHUMELELE RESEARCH CENTRE, FISHHOEK

The main purpose of this position is to be responsible for all laboratory activities at Masiphumelele Research Site, as well as to ensure that the final outputs and outcomes of all projects and programs are quality assured and completed within the required timelines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Biomedical Technology, Microbiology or Clinical Pathology
  • HPCSA registration as a Medical Laboratory Technologist
  • At least 3-5 years working experience as a Laboratory Manager, preferably in a research environment
  • At least 2 years of management experience
  • Valid code 08 Driverxe2x80x99s license
  • Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP)
  • Computer Literate (MS Office)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Client service skills
  • Ability to build interpersonal relationships
  • Decision-making skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Resource management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Stress tolerant skills
Advantageous:
  • Tertiary qualification in a life science field
  • Clinical trials experience
  • Good Clinical practice (GCP) and Human Subjects Protection (HSP)
  • Transportation of dangerous Goods/ International Air Transport Association Training Certificate (IATA)
Responsibilities:
  • Management of stock and inventory
  • Specimen Management: Performing of Rapid Tests and reporting results
  • Quality Control /Quality Assurance Management
  • Laboratory and Study Management
  • General administration
  • Staff training and Management
